Lentils / Grape Room / Robbers Roost @ Farmhouse
The Lentils & Grape Room are two different bands composed of the same 3 dudes who were on tour together. Originally from Vermont and now living in LA, the boys visited Arcata on July 29, 2015 and played at The Farm House. THE LENTILS (gnar burger) play upbeat, fresh sounding garage rock and their biggest problem right now is that they’re, “becoming really popular,” according to the singer. GRAPE ROOM is self described as, “cartoon rock,” and sounds kind of like Paul Simon on mushrooms. I thoroughly enjoyed their set. ROBBER’S ROOST is a trio of full time traveling musicians playing rag time and early americana influenced jams. This was their second time playing the Farm House, with a slightly different line up and electrified instruments. They’re very high energy and feature a kazoo on top of excellent command of their instruments, to call them ‘folk punk’ would be an insult to their craft.
